About the Event
Join us as we welcome Dr. Brian Berman to outline how Parkinson's impacts sleep and what you can do to cultivate a good night's sleep.
Sleep disturbances are the most prevalent non-motor symptom in Parkinson’s disease (PD) affecting up to 90% of patients. In addition to impairing cognition and leading to worsening quality of life, sleep disturbances are also linked to the development and progression of PD itself. Thus, it is essential we find better ways to treat sleep disturbances in this disorder and increase our understanding of how sleep is linked to neurodegeneration so that we improve the lives of those with PD and slow down disease progression. Dr. Berman will be reviewing the common sleep disturbances seen in PD and current treatment approaches, as well as discussing his research aimed at elucidating the link between sleep abnormalities and neurodegeneration in PD.
